Nick Bruno, Jr. - Founder/Managing Partner

Nick started his career in the litigation support industry as a Customer Service Representative in 1992 with Capital Legal Copies.  Since then Nick has opened and managed a number of litigation support companies in the Washington, DC area.  His sales skills, leadership abilities and knowledge of the litigation industry prepared him to open his own litigation support company on September 10, 2001.  Barrister was born.

Responding to the challenges of this time in our nation’s history, Barrister grew from 3 employees in 2001 to over 100 employees and sales of $6.3 million in 2006.  Providing opportunity for employees and servicing clients beyond the industry standard is Nick’s vision and commitment for Barrister.


Tim McCarthy – Managing Partner

Tim has over 20 years of corporate sales and marketing experience along with an extraordinary track record in successfully partnering with the Washington DC legal community.  As Managing Partner, Tim has served as the VP of Sales for Barrister Digital Solutions since 2002.  Tim’s entrepreneurial spirit propelled Barrister to a multi-million dollar company from its inception.  He secured many of the top 100 largest law firms in the greater DC area due to his strong rapport with key clients.

In 2005, Tim spearheaded Barristers’ expansion into the Northern Virginia market.  He has been integral in the development of new corporate channels including Fortune 500 companies and national associations.


Doug Batcheller – Managing Partner

Doug has been a sales leader in the legal market since 1991.  He started his sales career at NightRider in Los Angeles selling litigation photocopy services. He quickly became one of the most successful sales representatives in the city.  As the legal market shifted from photocopying to automated digital services, Doug joined FYI/Researchers – one of the nation’s largest providers of document imaging and coding services.  Soon the legal market made another transition and evolved from paper discovery towards electronic discovery.  He joined Applied Discovery/Lexis Nexis and sold market leading electronic discovery services to the largest law firms and corporations in the nation.  Doug became the top sales performer in the nation.

In 2004, Capitol LLC hired Doug to open its Washington DC office and bring a full suite of litigation support services (Imaging, Coding, Electronic Discovery, Web Hosting, Printing and Photocopying) to a brand new market.  As Managing Director, Doug successfully built and managed sales and operations teams and made a big splash in the DC market.  In 3 years, he built Capitol’s DC office from 3 employees and $0 revenue to over 100 employees and $6 Million in annual revenue.

In November of 2006, Doug joined Barrister Digital Solutions as Managing Partner.  His primary focus is to add to Barrister’s incredible success in the DC market by developing new business and managing the sales staff.  His 15 years of knowledge and experience in the legal market – both in sales and management – make him a valuable asset at BDS.
